Let the Music speak
Orpheus Kammerorchester Wien, delivered the real "Viennese sound"last night in Musikverein.
“Orpheus Kammerorchester Wien” was founded in 2011 by its artistic director and conductor Konstantinos Diminakis.
The orchestra consists of 20 to 30 international musicians according to the demands of the musical repertoire being presented. Its members come from both Europe and the US. They are all professional musicians performing in numerous ensembles and orchestras and have been chosen because of their talent and exceptional musical personality.
This chamber ensemble has managed within a short period of musical activity to gain popularity and perform in important concert halls in Austria and Germany: the renowned 'Musikverein'-Vienna, Saint Stephan’s Cathedral (Stephansdom), Ehrbaarsaal Prayner Konservatorium Vienna, Townhall of Vienna (Rathaus), Gasteig - Carl Orf Saal-Munich, Liederhalle - Stuttgart.
It effectively combines Classical and Greek classical music during its concerts, which results in drawing audience closer to the perks of classical music while promoting works composed by Greek composers, including N. Skalkotas, M. Kalomiris, M. Hadjidakis, M. Theodorakis. Until today the orchestra has performed opera excerpts and arias composed by Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Puccini etc., and classical masterpieces especially arranged for 13 instruments, such as the “Prelude a l’ápres midi d’un faun” by Claude Debussy.
Finally, Orpheus collaborates with vocal and instrumental soloists, as well as Choirs, which allows not only the constant growth of its musical variety but also supports the ideal of team work and effort towards one goal: The realization of artistic and musical ideas.
Many opportunities arise in the future of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, which is accepting not only invitations for the upcoming seasons, but is already preparing for its future projects.
